Dominic Pope was born and raised in western Pennsylvania before taking to the road to experience other parts of the United States. After approximately twelve years of travel and about as many places of residence, he returned to western Pennsylvania where he continues to reside.  His first attempt at writing, which was inspired by his first use of a computer, a junked computer he came upon, never made it to print. A failed hard drive on a new updated computer he purchased to finish the book caused him to shelve the idea. Months later, with a new hard drive installed he wanted to show how easy to write a short mystery, but it blossomed into his first published book Ridge Heights: Who's in charge of the elk? Then came the second Ridge Heights story with Pages and Rages to follow.

Dominic Pope uses dark dreary days to put pen to paper and uses the better days for walks to invigorate his thinking and planning of the story. "Slowly cooking a meal," he says, "is another favorite form of relaxation wether after a hard days work or when trying to move a story along. Focusing on the timing of the cooking process without having to stand guard over it is sort of a mini time zone. It's like setting aside time to watch a movie or tv show except the only words you hear are the ones in your head; the ones you need to build a story line or to formulate a plan for the next day of hard work."

One thing he likes to use to distance himself from reality and get his mind in another zone is video games." The attention and concentration required to play the game can stop all other thoughts from clogging my mind and get me ready for the fictional world of my story."
